About Atanas Dimitrov
Atanas Dimitrov is the founder of Dimitrov Law Professional Corporation, an Ottawa-based law firm focused on delivering practical and strategic legal services to businesses and individuals throughout Ontario.
Prior to becoming a lawyer, Atanas spent more than a decade managing a family-owned business in Ottawa. This experience gave him firsthand exposure to the legal, financial, operational, and regulatory challenges faced by entrepreneurs and business owners. Today, that practical business background continues to shape his commercially focused approach to legal representation.
Atanas earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Ottawa, where he specialized in international law and served as a Senior Editor of the Ottawa Law Review. He also holds a Master of Arts in International Affairs from the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs (NPSIA) at Carleton University, with a concentration in international economic policy.
Before entering private practice, Atanas worked for Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) within the Industrial and Technological Benefits Policy Branch. During his time with the Land and Cyber Team, he contributed to major Canadian defence procurement initiatives, including the LC4ISR program and LC4 Sustainment procurement project. His responsibilities included evaluating bidder submissions, drafting procurement requirements, engaging with industry stakeholders, and monitoring contractor compliance with post-award obligations.
Atanas was called to the Ontario Bar in 2024 after completing his articling term at TAAG Law, where he later returned as Associated Counsel. His unique combination of legal knowledge, policy experience, procurement expertise, and entrepreneurial insight allows him to deliver legal advice that goes beyond compliance and focuses on achieving meaningful business outcomes.
Outside of his practice, Atanas remains actively engaged within Ottawa’s business community and regularly participates in professional networking and business development organizations.
