Through his leadership at the Migrant Justice and Development Coalition (MJDC), he works to protect vulnerable populations, strengthen access to justice, and promote meaningful inclusion across Canadian society.

What Makes MJDC Different
MJDC takes an integrated approach to migrant justice by combining legal empowerment, policy reform, community development, human rights advocacy, and strategic partnerships. Rather than focusing exclusively on legal services or settlement support, MJDC addresses both individual needs and the broader systemic barriers that contribute to exclusion, exploitation, and inequality.
About Guillain Koko
Guillain Cirhuza Koko is a Human Rights Lawyer, social justice advocate, and community leader with a lifelong commitment to protecting the dignity and rights of vulnerable populations. Trained in law at the Catholic University of Bukavu in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Guillain further advanced his expertise through a Master of Laws in Human Rights and Democratization in Africa from the University of Pretoria in South Africa.
Throughout his career, Guillain has worked at the intersection of law, civil society, human rights, and community empowerment. As co-founder of the League for Justice and Development, he has helped hold institutions accountable while amplifying the voices of marginalized communities and promoting equitable access to justice.
Today, as Executive Director of the Migrant Justice and Development Coalition (MJDC), Guillain leads one of Canada’s emerging voices for migrant justice, inclusion, and community development. Under his leadership, MJDC works with migrants, temporary foreign workers, refugees, newcomers, and vulnerable populations to overcome barriers to participation, access resources, and strengthen their voices within Canadian society.
Guillain’s work is driven by the belief that every individual deserves equal protection under the law, meaningful opportunities to thrive, and the ability to fully participate in their communities regardless of origin, immigration status, or socio-economic circumstances.
